How does a project like this start?

With analysis: we talk to the people who do the work today and describe the process step by step. The result is a requirements document and a division into stages, which is the basis for the quote.

Do I have to order the whole system at once?

No. We start with the most costly problem and deliver a first version that works in practice. Further modules are added once we see real benefits from the previous ones.

What do you build these systems in?

We write the backend in PHP with the Symfony framework, keep data in PostgreSQL and build interfaces with JavaScript. It is a stable, well-documented stack for which support is easy to find, also outside our team.

Who maintains the system after launch?

We do - under a support agreement with an agreed response time. By default the system runs on our infrastructure, because we know its configuration and react faster. If it has to run on your server, we handle that option as a separately priced scope of delivery and maintenance.
